Wednesday 9th June 2010

Wow, what a long flight. Nothing like 27 hours spent flying & transiting through airports to knock you about.
Met some great Aussies on Singapore flights Melbourne to Singapore [7 hours] & then Singapore to Capetown [14 hours - including a 2 hour layover in Johannesburg.
Janet & her husband Mark are travelling with the Fanatics & staying in Durban [in tents no less], while Todd & his dad Bill from Perth who are also travelling with the fanatics but based in Capetown.
Even met someone not travelling to South Africa [Johan from Brussels whom we shared 6 hours of conversation & chess playing with - kids at heart]
Also bumped into an old friend on the first leg to singapore [Shino-san] - who hwould have guessed. Do not know who was more shocked. Nonetheless he was pleasant given how tired he looked.
Sash & I have now settled into Capetown at the Garden Court Hotel in Woodstock - about 5km from Green Point Stadium & the city centre.
Had a little scare when hotel told us that we had no reservation - SAY WHAT !!!.
Anyway ended well after they uncovered an error in the reservation.
Time for us to freshen up & make our first foray into the City Centre & pickup our first batch of game tickets.
View from our room of Table mountain is particularly awesome - literally outside our doorstep - trying to talk Sash into trekking up by foot - he is keen on the cable cart - go figure.
Oh I must say first impression of the locals is truly spectacular - cannot begin to tell you how warm they are & the World Cup has taken the place by storm - it is plasteredall over the media.
Anyway bye for now & hope to post some pics.
